Orchid and Flower Photography and Talks by Ron Parsons

Achimenes sp.

Wildflowers and Plants of Central Mexico

There is an amazing variety of habitats in Central Mexico. In September of 2007, Ron, his coauthor, Mary Gerritsen, and his colleague, Aaron Rodriguez (IBUG, University of Guadalajara) completed a 4300 km trip through Central Mexico, visiting the states of (in order) Jalisco, Michoacan, Mexico, Morelos, Guerrero, Oaxaca, Puebla, Tlaxcala, Hidalgo, Queretero, Guanajuato, San Luis Potosi, Guanajuato and Jalisco. The trip was designed to optimize the photography of the Mexican Calochortus species, and was very successful. However, the variety of terrestrial orchids, salvia, cacti and other plants that we found was incredible. This talk highlights some of the impressive plants and flowers that we found.
